Imagine having enough – energy, time, money, inspiration – not only for yourself but a surplus to share with others. Living in a way that is net positive and not +/- zero.
I call that regenerative productivity.
If you
- are responsible for making your own decisions, either because the buck stops with you or you have a lot of freedom in how you work
- care for impact, looking for a win-win-win solution
- are a curious and ambitious soul who wants to keep growing, not content to settle down
You’ve come to the right place.
This site is dedicated to the practice of understanding who you are, identifying your desired experiences, and intentionally guiding yourself toward them (aka self-leadership). Life is a river-rafting ride where we don’t control the current, but we have a possibility to influence and steer the direction of our vessel.
Who’s behind the site
My name is Karin Wood, and I’m a dancer turned software developer turned writer. I’m a highly driven person, but after a major health crash I’m focusing on the question of how to live life well and pursue your dreams in a non-destructive manner.
If you can reach your goals in a way that has a net positive impact on both yourself and everyone and everything around you, I have succeeded.
Many times, the main thing standing in our way is ourselves. That means we need to work on ourselves in order to become unblocked. And that’s where Three Saplings come in.
Three saplings stands for your mind, your emotions and your body. You are neither of them, but they are a part of you, and you (the thinker of your thoughts) is responsible for them. You need to take care of all three and help them flourish and grow. In return, they will take you where you want to go.
What you can find here
The purpose of the site is to be the place where you can find tools, tips, and perspective that help you move forward towards your desired destination.
Unlike a niche topic blog with a single focus, the content on this site will span the whole gamut from dealing with tasks, information and knowledge, to working on your mindset, detangling emotions, and making sure that the body hangs along for the ride.
New visitor? These are a few top picks
- Why Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is wrong
- Beyond SMART – give your goals some AI
- What you should look for instead of passion
- How I went from hating routines to embracing them
- Why you shouldn’t focus on delayed gratification
- How to deal with the feeling that you’re not doing enough
My goal is to transform what used to be a blog into something similar to a digital garden, where you can navigate between related articles and browse by topic rather than be forced to see a chronological feed only. That’s a work in progress which has just started.
As I deep dive into a new area of interest, I’m adding my thoughts and findings to the already published content so that this site will evolve and grow and hopefully become a useful resource for more people than just me. This means old articles get updates as my knowledge and understanding evolves.
Topics I cover include (but not limited to)
- Structure & systems
- Mental training & mental health
- Consciousness & awareness
- Physical training & how the body works
- Creativity & imagination
- Life design & intentional living
- PKM, time & project management
- Inner stories & beliefs
- The future of work & making a living in the online digital space
- Objective science & subjective woo woo
This site is not all about my thoughts and my ideas though. I’m not an expert at life, but I can point to people who figured out a piece of the puzzle, and curate resources and information that help with a particular problem or area.
